Do you do what I did? Look at online dating sites, stare at the screen and wonder if you should do it or not? Oh my gosh, what if someone finds out! I was nervous to try it, really! What a mistake it was to wait! They are fabulous…seriously. Still, I’d sit there going..do I really want to join?

Finally, one night I decided I didn’t want to be alone anymore. I was lonely, and I was ready to move forward with a relationship. I decided it was was important to me, and I was tired of spending my nights alone….sooooooooo I signed up.

I didn’t know whether to take it too seriously at first, but the next thing you know, I starting meeting really nice people! Oh my gosh, all these guys starting messaging me. I went from having no dates, to guys lining up! Seriously…me! You know what? They were just like me, looking for a relationship, and just not sure where to go to meet new people.

I was working full time, sometimes pulling overtime, had other responsibilities, and I don’t drink, so bars and clubs weren’t an answer for me. Unless someone was going to flag me down in the grocery store, I didn’t see it happening.

Then came the day I met my future husband. It changed my life.

We started talking, and something clicked. After 2 weeks, we finally got together. Man, I was so nervous! What if he didn’t like me in person? What if he knew I was overweight in his brain, since I told him, but what if in his heart when he saw me, he just wasn’t attracted to me? I was so scared…

That was almost 9 years ago! We dated for 3 years (I have kids, and wanted to go slowly), and have been married for 6 years come May of this year. I met my husband through an online dating service, and I love that! It’s so cool, that two people connected virtually, through a computer first!

…and you know what? For those first two weeks online we talked non-stop, so that when we finally met, there was no awkward silence. We’d spend hours talking every night on the computer, then the phone. If I met somebody at a club, or grocery store, how much do I really know about THEM? Exactly, so you’re talking non-stop and really get to know someone first! It totally takes the pressure off…you get to know someone’s personality first.
